Daejeon will host the 2013 World Taekwondo Hanmadang
Kukkiwon Chairman Won-Sik Kang and Daejeon Mayor Hong-Chul Yeom signed an agreement on February 28th for the successful celebration of this year’s Hanmadang.
Kukkiwon, the city of Daejeon and the Hanmadang organizing committee have agreed to do their best for inspiring the global Taekwondo community through the spirit and culture of Taekwondo.
Kukkiwon Chairman said “it is an honor to organize the Hanmadang in Daejeon, which is located at the center of South Korea” and added that “we expect to create the best Taekwondo festival where the global Taekwondo community can gather in harmony and where the culture of Taekwondo can be further upgraded”.
“We are very glad to host the festival for the global Taekwondo community in Daejeon. This will be a great opportunity to show our country and our city to the whole world through Taekwondo”, said Daejeon Mayor Hong-Chul Yeom.
According to the recently signed agreement, the 2013 World Taekwondo Hanmadang will be celebrated with financial support from both parts: the city of Daejeon with 435,000 US$ and Kukkiwon with 275,000 US$.
This year’s Hanmadang will be held from the 28th to 31st of August at the Chung-Moo Sports Hall in Daejeon.
The organizing committee of the Hanmadang is expecting a total participation of 4,000 people from approximately 50 countries.
