I.R. Iran National Para Taekwondo Team shining in Lausanne
I.R. Iran National Para Taekwondo Team participated in the 4th Para Taekwondo World Championships, hosted by Lausanne, Switzerland on June 8th with three athletes and their head coach, Modanlou. In this event, Iran seized 3 Gold Medals among 82 athletes from 26 countries and stood on the third place. Russia became the Champion of this event with 4 Gold, 7 Silver and 2 Bronze medals and Azerbaijan won the second place with 10 Gold and Silver Medals. After the drawing, Farzad Ahangari competed with his Spanish rival and overcame him with the result 6-5. Ahangari beat his Turkish rival in the semi final 13-2, and in the final round he grabbed the Gold medal from the athlete of Azerbaijan. Asghar Azizi rested in the first round, beat his Mongolian rival in the semi final and gained the Gold medal in the final round in which he faced the Spanish athlete. Mahmoud Jafarzadeh also achieved the Gold medal after overcoming his rivals from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Russia in the preliminary, semi final and final rounds respectively. Source: I.R.
