INNOVATION SYSTEMS FOR TAEKWONDO
Smart Willy (SW) is a training machine designed to improve punches. SW is based on a heavy boxing bag with indicated punching zones. During the training SW will: 1. perform various moves (bobbing, slipping, etc.), 2. give instructions to the athlete (when and where to punch), 3. improve athlete’s response to the prompts of the coach, 4. measure reaction, speed, power and accuracy of each punch, 5. inform the athlete about bloomers, slow or too weak punches.
The SW will give the coach full statistics about all punches after the training.
Smart-Shadow Sparring (3S) is an innovative version of a classic training exercise Shadow Sparring. But during 3S the athlete will see the Shadow (virtual opponent that moves, defends and punches) and realize when he misses the punches from the Shadow. Moves and punches of Smart-Shadow are set up before each training session. After the training the System will give the coach full information about virtual sparring: 1. how many and what type of punches has the athlete landed, 2. accuracy of these punches, 3. how many and what type of virtual punches (punches of Smart-Shadow) has the athlete missed, etc.
Smart-Shadow Sparring can be recorded as an animated fight of two athletes. This systems provide coach with data that allows to: 1. evaluate the athlete’s disadvantages and control his progress 2. analyze past sessions and plan the subsequent ones
Both Systems can be configured to fit physical and technical characteristics of the next real opponent (size, techniques, speed, missed and landed punches, etc.). This will allow to simulate and rehearse the upcoming fight and improve readiness for next opponent. Source: Computer Simulation in Professional Sports
