2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals for Iran Para-Taekwondo Team
Iran National Para-Taekwondo team claimed the title of 1st Asian Para-Taekwondo Championships.
This event was held on 17 April in Chinese Taipei. After the classification, 5 Iranian athletes were eligible for participation in 1st Asian Para-Taekwondo Championships. Iran representatives, under the supervision of Hossein Modanloo as coach, were classified according to the following: Saied Sadeghianpour and Ahmad Narimani: class 42, -61 kg Mahdi Pourrahnama and Mahmoud Jafarzadeh: class 44, -75 kg Asghar Azizi: class 44, +75 kg Hamed Haghshenas: not eligible Mahdi Pourrahnama won a Gold medal after beating Mahmoud Jafarzadeh and representative of UAE. Asghar Azizi grabbed a Gold by overcoming Uzbekistan and 2 representatives of USA. Saied Sadeghianpour won a Silver medal when he lost the match to Mongolian athlete in the final round. Ahmad Narimani and Mahmoud Jafarzadeh achived Bronze medals. Gold winners of this G-4 event will receive 40 points while Silver and Bronze winners can collect 24 and 14.40 points respectively.
