Persian Soldiers Conquered the World Championships in Tsars’ Land
Iran National team won the title of the World Championships for the second time and stood on the first podium in Russia. 22nd World Taekwondo Championships brought 875 athletes together from 144 countries in Chelyabinsk. Iran male team succeeded in claiming the title of this G-12 event with 3 Gold medals (won by Ashourzadeh, Hajizavareh and Khodabakhshi) and 1 Bronze medal (won by Yaghoubi) and 65 points. Russia stood on the second place with 2 Silver medals, 3 Bronze medals and 50 points, and third place went to Uzbekistan with 1 Gold medal, 2 Silver medals and 43 points. South Korea and Spain won the 4th and 6th places respectively. Iran’s male team under the supervision of Moghanloo, Bibak and Yousefi, consisted of the following athletes: Kazemi, Ashourzadeh, Yaghoubi, Nasr Azadani, Hajizavareh, Khodabakhshi, Amidi and Mardani In the female category, Kimia Alizadeh won a Bronze medal, which was the first World medal won by female team in the history of Iran’s Taekwondo. The female team of Iran, under the supervision of Maddah and Yasaie, consisted of the following athletes: Alizadeh, Izadi, Rohani, Akhlaghi and Khodabandeh South Korea won the title of the World Championships in the female category while Chinese Taipei and Turkey stood on the second and third places respectively.
