Grand Prix in 2016



WTF has recently been advised by many stakeholders regarding the frequency of the Grand Prix
to be held at the Olympic year that is 2016.
Under current rules, one (1) series and one (1) final
shall be held in between September and December of the Olympic year.

After completion of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, most of our national federations would set the
next 4 year plan and the WTF is fully engaged in the Olympic Games debriefing process.

Besides, WTF should organize the 2016 WTF World Junior Championships and WTF World
Poomsae Championships in between September and December. Under this circumstance, it has
been suggested holding only one (1) Grand Prix Final in 2016 together with Gala awards and
World Cup, which seem to represent best interest of our stakeholders.

Given urgency of this matter, Dr. Choue used his authority to change the frequency of GP in 20l6 from two to one by taking an emergency measure as stipulated in the article 9.2 of the WTF
Statutes subject to submission to the WTF Council in December in Mexico City with hope that
this decision will help the stakeholders in planning for the next year.
