Iran National Team won the Second Place of 2015 World Cup
Iran National team succeeded in winning the second standing of the World Cup for 8th time.
After a 2-day competition Azerbaijan claimed the title of 2015 World Cup which was held in Mexico City followed by Iran, South Korea and Chinese Taipei.
Iran’s young National team, with average age of 22, was in the same group with Uzbekistan, Belgium and Azerbaijan.
In the preliminary round, Iran defeated Uzbekistan 26-25.In the second match Iran overwhelmed Belgium 40-29, and entered semi-final after winning against Azerbaijan 31-22.
In the semi-final round, Iran outperformed Russia 31-24 and proceeded to the final round to face Azerbaijan for the second time. Iran lost 42-22 in the final match and settled for the Silver.
Iran National team consisted of Armin Hadipour, Mohammad Kazemi, Abolfazl Yaghoubi, Saeid Rajabi, Masoud Hajizavareh and Omid Amidi.
Bijan Moghanlou led the team as head coach and Mahdi Bibak and Mehrdad Yousefi assisted him as coaches.
As World Cup was a G-2 event, Gold, Silver and Bronze winners won 20, 12 and 7.2 ranking points respectively.
