WTF Guidelines on Mandatory Use of Recognized Products
All competitions listed on the WTF Events Calendar are required to use WTF-recognized competition uniforms and equipment. The WTF hereby issues the following guidelines regarding use of WTF-recognized products.
1. WTF has recognized providers for the following categories:
A. competition uniforms (Kyorugi and Poomsae);
B. protective equipment (including head protectors, forearm and shin guards, groin guards, hand protectors, trunk protectors, protector and scoring system (PSS), electronic head protector (head PSS), and mask head protectors);
C. Poomsae scoring systems; and
D. Mats.
D.1. The list of WTF-recognized companies by product item, together with their brands/logos and contact information, is available on the WTF website
D.2. The information above D.1 should be prominently included in the Outline of the competitions listed on the WTF Events Calendar, as is the practice in the outline of WTF-promoted events.
2. Member National Associations (MNAs) should:
A. be familiar with the complete list of WTF-recognized companies by product item;
B. instruct their athletes, coaches and officials to use only WTF-recognized uniforms and equipment when participating in any event listed on the WTF Events Calendar unless no recognized provider exists (such as for mouth guards).
3. Organizing Committees for all events on the WTF Events Calendar should:
A. use WTF-recognized mats and, where PSS is used, provide WTF-Recognized PSS (and e-head protector or mask protector, where appropriate) to the participating athletes;
B. inspect the uniforms and other equipment brought and worn by participating athletes to ensure they use/wear WTF-recognized products;
C. print the list of WTF-recognized companies (company names and brands/logos) by product item and post this information on four walls of the Training Area as well as the Inspection Area. (Photos of Training Area as well as Inspection Area should be included in the Official Games Result Report sent to WTF after the end of the competition.)
4. Recognized companies must be treated without discrimination.
A. Organizing Committees (event organizers) must not selectively restrict the use of WTF-recognized uniforms or protective equipment which are brought and worn by athletes.
B. Authorized exceptions are PSS, head gear (or e-head gear) mats, and Poomsae scoring system, all of which are to be provided by the OC.
5. Continental Unions should:
A. ensure that only WTF-recognized uniforms and equipment are used at any and all continental-level championships.
6. Reporting:
A. Violations of these Guidelines are to be reported to an event’s Technical Delegate. The reported violations must be included in the Technical Delegate Report to the WTF.
7. Failure to abide by these guidelines shall result in the following:
A. first violations shall result in a verbal or written warning;
B. additional violations (including those at the same event) will results in a monetary fine of US$500-to-US$3,000 depending on the G-rank of the event;
C. flagrant or multiple violations may result in loss of WTF Sanction an event as well as additional penalty under Article 29 of the WTF Statutes.
