President Choue: Kimia’s Bronze was worthier than Gold
The President of World Taekwondo Federation, Dr. Choue, believes that the Bronze medal of Kimia Alizadeh was worthier than Gold.
In his interview with the reporter of ISNA, Dr. Choue said that the Olympic Games are different from other events and we were surprised because in most weight categories 1st and 2nd ranked athletes were omitted. The countries that had never gained any achievement in the Olympic Games gained medals and it proved that Taekwondo has developed all over the world.
The President of WTF added, ‘Iran has always been powerful but Iranian athletes fought emotionally because they were under the pressure of gaining medal for their country.’ He said, ‘the medal of Kimia Alizadeh is more precious that a Gold medal for Iran. The success of a Muslim girl in the Olympic Games makes Teakwondo more popular among Iranian girls and the Muslim girls all over the world. WTF was one of the first Federations that allowed Hijab for the Muslim women in the competitions and we will do our best to further expand Taekwondo among Muslim countries in the future.
