Azarpad: Iran’s Taekwondo is not comparable to the Past
The Father of Iran’s Taekwondo, Mohammad Esmaeil Azarpad, said, ‘Taekwondo has developed dramatically during the last 20 years and has proved to outperform other sports in Iran.’
Azarpad succeeded in gaining his 9th Dan at the age of 78 after half a century coaching experience. He is the first and the only Taekwondo practitioner in Iran that could achieve his 9th Dan.
He added, ‘Iran’s Taekwondo is not comparable to the past. The establishment of the World Taekwondo Center, Taekwondo University and organizing all Taekwondo players of Iran in a data bank were the reasons of our improvements in the recent years.
At the end, he mentioned, ‘The Medal of Kimia Alizadeh in the Olympic Games had a great influence on the believes of the Sport and Youth Ministry about the abilities of the female athletes and is a symbol of development of Taekwondo in the female category in Iran.’
