In the 5th Asian Open Para Taekwondo Championships 2019, Iran's
Para Taekwondo squad grab 4 Gold and 2Silver Medals
At the end of the 5th Asian Para taekwondo Championships, held in Jordan, Iranian para athletes won 4 Gold and 2 Silver medals , achieving 34 points and securing the championship of the 5th Asian cup.
According to the Public Relation's Department of the Iranian Taekwondo Federation, the 5th Asian Open Para Taekwondo Championships were held in Amman, Jordan, on Thursday July 18, and Iran's Saeid Sadeghianpour, Mahdi Pourrahnama, Asghar Azizi and Mohammadreza Shabani grabbed 4 outstanding Gold medals and Mahdi Bahrami Azar and Ahmad Narimani achieved 2 Silver medals. Iran also achieved 34 points and took home its 5th Asian Cup. Turkey with 2 gold medals, 1 bronze and 15 points, standing second and Kazakhstan with 1 gold medal, 2 silver, 1 bronze and 14 points stood third. Iran's lineup was made up of 9 athletes including: Mahdi Bahrami Azar(+75kg k43), Saeid Sadeghianpour(-61kg k42), Sajjad Javanbakht(-61kg k42), Alireza Bakht(-75kg k44), Mahdi Pourrahnama(-75kg k44), Ahmad Narimani(+75kg k42), Asghar Azizi(+75kg k44), Mohammadreza Shabani(-75kg k42) and Mahmoud Jafarzadeh(-75kg k44).
The team participated in Asian Para Taekwondo Open Championships under the leadership of Payam Khanlarkhani as the head coach and Mahdi Ahmadi as the coach. This event was a G4\G2 one, allowing athletes the opportunity to earn double ranking points in their home event.
