To compete in 3rd round of 2019 Grand Prix;
Iran's Taekwondo squad fly to Bulgaria
The third round of the grand prix 2019, will begin in Bulgaria and Iran's squad, made up of 5 athletes, will fly to Sofia, Bulgaria, on Tuesday ,October 15, 2019, at 1:50 a. m.
According to the Public Relation's Department of the Iranian Taekwondo Federation, Iran's lineup includes: Armin Hadipour (M-58kg), Mirhashem Hosseini (M-68kg), Soroush Ahmadi (M-68kg), Sajjad Mardani (M+80kg) and Saeed Rajabi (M+80kg). Farzan Ashoorzadeh was scheduled to compete in these games, but Iranian team head coach, Fariborz Askari, decided not to send him to Sofia until he was fully recovered, and he would join the national team in subsequent matches in Serbia. A three day tournament taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria on 18th _20th October and 256 athletes will participate and compete to get valid point for access to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Team is led by Fariborz Askari as the head coach and Ali Mohammad Boshagh and Vahid Abdollahi as the coaches.
This tournament is a G4 one and the gold, silver and bronze medal winners will garnish 40, 24, and 14.4 points, respectively and would also collect cash prizes of $5000, $3000 and $1000 in turn.
