Dr. Chungwon Choue encouraged the leaders of the Taekwondo Continental Unions to build strong and lasting relationships with WADA
April 2017 Inspired by World Anti-Doping Agency's World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) World Anti-Doping Agency, Dr. Chungwon Choue encouraged the leaders of the Taekwondo Continental Unions to build strong and lasting relationships with the above-mentioned agency.
Following the standardized policies of the WTF and its vision of methods to prevent doping and drug use and banned substances for sports performance, ETU (European Taekwondo Union), through its anti-doping committee, initiated the first program to cover all Aspects of doping prevention.
The timing of launching this program was at the European Taekwondo under 21 Championship, held in Sofia, Bulgaria, between April 6th and April 9th, 2017. During this event, ANAD (Romanian National Anti-Doping Agency) representatives, the main regional center for such activities in the Balkans, together with Mr. Apostol Constantin as Deputy Secretary General of the ETU, structured an information point within the "Sofia Sport hall" host hall, where Taekwondo's great personalities took a moment their program to showcase the initiative now known as "BE COOL. BE CLEAN".
One day earlier, the same Anti-Doping officers attended the meeting with the coaches and medical staff of the international delegations that took part in the competition, where they enjoyed much interest in the regulations and procedures in force set by WADA since 2016.
We are glad that on the day of the official launch of the program (April 6), no fewer than 170 athletes and coaches from all over Europe have had the pleasure and interest to go to the BE COOL BE CLEAN stand to inform and also to participate in the "Athlete Outreach" program, a program that educates and informs about the risks of doping for sports performance, promoted by WADA.
A trademark moment was that WTF President Dr. Chungwon Choue and ETU President Mr. Sakis Pragalos expressed their delight and greetings for the success that this program has already demonstrated and promised also that they will makes every effort necessary to maintain and promote the efforts outlining the success of this program.
