Rosendo Alonso Will Be the New Mexico’s Coach
After the departure of Jose Luis Onofre, the Spanish Rosendo Alonso and his Turkish wife will be the new reinforcements to the Technical Mexican Taekwondo Federation for the next Olympic cycle. After Juan Manuel Lopez public search for European coaches for his national technical team, there were some names like Jesus Benito, Juan Antonio Ramos or Brigitte Yague that started to raise, however, the technical duo that most resonated was the married couple, Rosendo Alonso and Gulsah Kuscu. Gulsah and Rosendo currently live in Tenerife, Autonomous Community of Canary Islands in Spain, and Rosendo‘s birth place. They had been part of the Taekwondo National Team in Guatemala (as coaches), but now they have decided to try their luck again and get back into competition. At the age of 34 years and after winning the King’s Cup 2012, Rosendo was convened by the Royal Taekwondo Spanish Federation to participate in the World Taekwondo Team Cup that took place in Aruba, and where the Iberians took a bronze medal, and this gave him another international medal for his great career. (See Note in Spanish) Some of his titles are: Spain Junior Championship- 1995 (Gold), Spain Junior Championship – 1997 (Gold), Spain Senior Championships 1998, 2000, 2004 and 2005 (Gold), Spain Senior Championships 2001 and 2003 (Silver), Spain Senior Championships 1996 and 2002 (Bronze), King’s Cup 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2012 (Gold), King’s Cup 1999 (Silver), King’s Cup 1996 (Bronze), Europe Junior Championships, Greece 1997 (Gold), Senior Europe Cup, Norway 2004 (Gold), European Team Championships 2003 and 2004 (Gold), Senior World Cup 1999, 2003 and 2005 (Bronze), World Cup 2001, Vietnam (Silver). Regarding their role within the Mexican team, Rosendo Alonso would be working with the senior male team along with Young Sun Bang, while Gulsah would be focused on the senior female team along with Cuban Pedro Ignacio Gato. So the secret has been revealed and this is how the technical team will be conformed and it will be presented on January 14, one of the first challenges is the 2013 WTF World Taekwondo Championships to be held on January 14, 2013 on Puebla, Mexico.
