A venue to realize the Olympic spirit through Taekwondo
The construction of the world's first taekwondo park, known as the Taekwondowon, will conclude in 2013.
The taekwondowon, located in Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do Province in the Republic of Korea, is constructed on a 572 acres land. The construction of the huge project started in 2005 and it is hoped that it would be completed by the end of 2013.
The park is divided into three zones: Body, Mind, and Spirit, where a diversity of programs are held based on themes.
The main facilities of the park include:
Body Zone: Taekwondo Arena, Taekwondo Museum, Taekwondo Experience Hall, Taekwondo Theatre, Open Plaza, Outdoor Training Center.
Mind Zone: World Taekwondo Academy, Taekwondo Research Institute, Outdoor Training Center, Multipurpose Playground, Traditional garden, Operation Center.
Spirit Zone: Space for Taekwondo Rituals, Network Space for Grand Masters, Observatory, Honorary Park.
